A Quick Word of Advice

Here's one of the projects I am working on: And this is only half of it!!

I got my first digital camera about 5 years ago. I used to scrapbook all the time and would just print the pictures as I needed them. Well, if you have kids you know how little extra time you have. So, my hobby just kind of fell by the wayside. I quit printing pictures. I did organize them all and have saved them all to discs and backed them up on an external hard drive. Our desktop is slowly going downhill and even though I have them saved and protected I want to print them all and put them in books. This way we can look through them and if or when I return to scrap booking I'll have them all in order. Well let me just tell you - I didn't think I had this many pictures and nearly freaked out when I ordered them and picked them up! A grand total of 28 boxes! I have already put some in the first album and I'm slowly sorting through them to make sure they are in order. They were in order on the discs but got messed up when printed. Besides the huge task ahead, it was quite expensive too! I have three more discs to print, but I'm going to wait until next month for those.

From here out I definitely will print more often and would advise you to do the same!

Dinner and a Movie

Last Saturday night we had dinner at Brio to celebrate Johnny passing his medical boards! He took the test in December and we got the results a couple of weeks ago. We both knew he would pass, but it is still a relief to get the results! We had a wonderful dinner and the kids were great! The kids and I had lobster bisque and loved it. Johnny had the mushroom soup and really liked it too! I had surf and turf for my entree and it was fabulous. Johnny had the crab cakes and the kids had pasta Alfredo. For dessert the kids had a coke float. I had a chocolate martini and Johnny had the creme brulee trio. Everything was outstanding and we were all stuffed when we left. That is now the kids new favorite place to eat! Johnny and I go every now and then and we usually take our friend Wes when he is in town. The kids said they are going with us the next time we go.

Last night Johnny had a conference call, so the kids and I watched The Million Dollar Duck. The kids love watching "old" movies! They love Chitty Chitty Bang Bang and The Ugly Dachshund. I had been telling them about The Million Dollar Duck, but I never found it on Tivo or anywhere to rent. Yesterday I bought it a Best Buy for $9.99. They loved it! Afterwards they were both drawing pictures of Charlie for their teachers!

Western Day

Just a quick word and pictures! Last Wednesday was Western Day at school for the 2ND and 3rd grades. Here's James and Annamarye that morning before school. James decided not to wear his hat and Annamarye decided not to wear her bandanna. It was a lot of fun watching the kids square dance. They had a fun time and knew all of the dances. I was very impressed! They were excited that Grand mommy was able to come watch. I didn't get any pictures of James in action - I was too busy video taping. But I got a few of Annamarye. They turned out blurry, but I posted one anyway. The last picture is of Annamarye and her partner Joseph.

Our Weekend

This past week and weekend just flew by. Not much going on here. School, homework, staying warm etc.. James had a basketball game on Saturday. They lost, but still had fun. So far they have only won 1 game. After his game we went to Newk's for lunch. We LOVE Newk's. If you have one near you, you have to check it out!

Annamarye and I made some homemade bread from my bread starter this weekend. We also made some cinnamon honey butter to go with it. It was really good - tastes like a cinnamon roll.

Monday was Martin Luther King Jr. Day so the kids were out of school. We met some friends at the park and had a wonderful day! The weather was fabulous!! We had a picnic lunch and needless to say, everyone was worn out.

Tomorrow is Western Day at school, so I'll be posting pictures from that tomorrow.

Games!

Happy Wednesday! The weather is still cold here! I am sure in 6 months we will be complaining about the heat, but right now I am complaining about the cold. I hate getting out of my nice warm bed in the morning. Once I am up I am good to go and hit the ground running. It's just the getting up part I dislike.
Anyway, since it has been so cold we haven't been able to get outside after school. This is just a small sampling of what we have been doing:

We all love playing games, so we are having lots of fun. It has really been nice coming home from school and having hot chocolate, playing games and snuggling up to read. The kids both like using my Snuggie while they get their reading homework done in the afternoons.

The kids have Western Day next week at school. They have been learning to square dance in P.E. I am working on their outfits and will post pictures soon!

Bama and Batons

Wow what a game!! Congrats to Alabama for a fabulous win and National Championship!! I am sure my Dad was celebrating in heaven!

James was so excited that we said he could stay up and watch all of the game. Since it was a Thursday night and just one more day of school this week, we said he could. Well he did great, but fell asleep near the end of the game. We even tried to wake him up but he was out!

Here's James when he was 2 years old. We were visiting friends in Oklahoma and James got sick. He still has that little baby face - at least to me he does!

Last night Annamarye's baton class twirled at halftime of the Oak Mountain High School basketball game. They did really well. Especially since they haven't had a class since early December!

Here's Annamarye (in the middle) with her friends Emiline (left) and Sellers (right). They are twins.

Snow Day!

Today the kids had a Snow Day! The only problem was there was no snow! We had some flurries a couple of times during the day, but not much and none of it stuck to the ground. We were all disappointed! I hated to use a snow day, since they just went back to school on Tuesday! Now they have to go on President's Day. Yuck!

It was nice to sleep late though! We finished up homework and played games. James and I watched Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs. Annamarye didn't want to watch. It was really cute! ( On a side note -Last night Johnny and I watched The Proposal. It was fabulous! A good light hearted comedy that wasn't vulgar.)

I bought this outfit for Annamarye at the end of the season sale of doo-dads and designs. Since we were "snowed" in today, I put this cross on it. She liked it and wants to wear it to school tomorrow. Which is good - she has become very selective lately about what she wears!

Gotta go - It's almost kick off for the big game!! Go Bama!

Happy New Year!

Happy New Year! We are on day 6 of the new year and so far so good! It is nice to have the house cleaned up and back in order after Christmas! I am one of those that once Christmas is over, it's over. Time to clean up. So, the day after Christmas we put everything away. We really did have a great holiday. Lots of family time, friend time and just hanging out time! It was really cold New Year's weekend so we didn't do much. Stayed in and played games, Wii, watched TV and had lots of hot chocolate!
This is what I did Sunday after church since it was too cold to get outside! I made the pants and put the purse applique on the shirt for Annamarye. Sorry the lighting isn't better. I had to get a quick shot before Annamarye wore it to school.

Last spring I started doing some monogramming and appliques for a children's clothing line called doo dads and designs. One of the owners is a friend from the neighborhood. They have lots of really cute stuff! They are reorganizing and will not be having home shows for the spring season. You can check them out here: http://www.doo-dadsanddesigns.com/ I put this applique on about 25-30 t-shirts last fall and was really tired of it. But it is so cute, I had to do one for Annamarye.
