School's Out for Summer!!

Last week was a very long and busy week!! Boy, am I glad it is over! Thursday was the kids' last day of school. I always take a picture of the kids on the first day of school and the last day.

Here they are on the first day of school last August:

And here they are last Thursday on the last day:
On Monday of last week, James' class, along with a couple other 2nd grade classes had an idiom presentation. Each child had an idiom to dress up/act out/explain. James had "a piece of cake". He wore his baseball uniform and took a small cake from Annamarye's kitchen... since baseball is a piece of cake for him. It was really cute. I'll try and post some more pictures later. It was bittersweet to see some of the kids we have known since kindergarten - they have really grown and matured.
It rained all last weekend and has been cloudy this weekend! The pool opened yesterday, but since it was so cloudy we didn't go. We rented Night at the Museum to watch before we go see the new one. Since we didn't go to the pool, James and Annamarye decided to make use of their towels anyway. And James wanted to try out his new goggles.

Melissa's Graduation

My niece, Melissa, graduated from UAB Medical School yesterday afternoon!!! She has worked so hard and we are very proud of her! She and her husband, Jorden, will soon be moving to Jacksonville, Florida for her residency (in Emergency Room care, not sure I said that right, but you know what I mean). Here she is with James and Annamarye.

Mother and daughters: Renee, Melissa and Lanie.

Granddaddy Foreman with Melissa.

James' Birthday Party

We had James' birthday party last weekend at Strike Fore. It is a great place and the people/owners are super nice!! The boys had a great time. They played a round of miniature golf and then batted in the batting cages. I was very impressed - at first - with their manners. They started off taking turns, watching and cheering for each other at each hole. That lasted for about 4 or 5 holes and then the first group went ahead. They had fun, but never got wild.

A

A lot of the boys had baseball games that day so they had on their uniforms. The batting cage was a good warm up. Although the ball was a little faster than they were used to hitting.

Buzz Cut

Here's James' new summer haircut! Isn't it cute?!

Here's the kids on Mother's Day. James had to have his Bakugan (?) in the picture. He got it from his friend Carter for his birthday. Pictures of James' party are coming soon. I'm trying to finish up school -room mother stuff this week.

Tea Party!

Last Saturday, (I know I am a little late in posting this. It has been a crazy week!)
Anyway, one of the Women's Circles at our Church held a "My Dolly and Me Tea Party". It was so much fun! The girls were to bring their favorite doll, wear hats and gloves and bring their own tea cups. Our table was Annamarye, Audrey and her mom Tracey, Shelby, Sela and their mom Joy and Joy's mom. Annamarye, Audrey and Shelby have known each other since they were babies. We all met in Kindermusik and have been friends ever since.

OK, back to the tea party. It began with a fashion show, which was followed by a book read by Snow White. Then we had our finger sandwiches and desserts. At our table, the adults ate the sandwiches and the girls ate most of the desserts! I did get a delicious brownie though. We had water, tea or lemonade to drink.

Everyone had a great time and can't wait until next year.

Don't you just love the hot pink gloves?! I bought some white gloves for Annamarye to wear. When she tried them on she decided she needed to put on some makeup. She got lipstick on one of the gloves. I just went ahead and put both in the wash. Well, one disappeared. It took me days to find it! It was stuck to some other clothes. After hunting for days, she didn't even wear them! We were in Walmart the day before the party - the kids had a little bit of money and it was burning a hole in their pockets - and we walked by and she saw these hot pink gloves and she just had to have them! It was her money and she liked them, so why not! I put the white away for next year. I just hope I remember where I put them!

Random Stuff

Here's the kids making pizza. I love the pizza kits! I used to make them when I was little and the kids LOVE to make them. James wants to make the lasagna! As you will see, he is serious about his pizza making! Annamarye loves to make them, but doesn't like to eat them. She likes pizza, just not these. That just means more for Mommy!

Here's the kids and some friends playing outside. This afternoon was crazy! Jeanne and her two boys Matthew and Jacob stopped by with their puppies, Mo and Mugsy. We wanted to see how our beagle would react to them. Well, it wasn't bad. But they didn't play around like I hoped they would. I don't think Johnny has to worry about me getting two puppies anytime soon! I don't have any pictures because I was having to stand guard not knowing how Lucy would react. She wasn't really sure what to think, and to be honest, I think she was a little scared of them!
Now, picture this... one beagle that is not sure of what is going on, 2 beagle puppies howling like crazy (and one of them got his head stuck in the fence twice!!) 4 kids running around playing and the neighbor's sprinkler comes on! Can you guess what the kids did?
The house next door recently sold but no one has moved in. There have been several people working at the house. This particular day someone had just finished cutting the grass and was checking out the sprinkler. I am sure they thought we were all crazy! Here's a few pictures - honestly it was hard taking pictures because we were laughing so hard!

And for those that know us - yes, these are James' too-small football pants from his Halloween costume last fall!

Wouldn't you just love to run and play in the sprinkler?!!

Happy Birthday James!

Happy Birthday James! I can't believe my little boy is 9 years old!
