Vacation

I am not sure where we were when I took this picture. I think it was at dinner one night. I just shots like this!
Putt Putt on vacation is a must!!

At night you could see fireworks from the hotel balcony.

I couldn't remember if I had posted these next two pictures or not and to be honest, I was too lazy to go back and look!

The kids love walking along the boardwalk and looking at the statues!

The kids were very sad to leave the beach!

Virginia Beach

While in Virginia this summer one afternoon we went to the Virginia Beach Science Museum and Aquarium. Here's a few pictures:

Here is Annamarye in her color changing t-shirt. I bought one several years ago at the Chattanooga aquarium. Annamarye has wanted one ever since!

The Never Ending Vacation!

After we spent a few days in Williamsburg, my in laws came home and we headed to Virginia Beach. We did spend time at the outlets in Williamsburg first! Always have to find an outlet and shop!
We have been to Virginia Beach several times and Annamarye had been begging to go back. We planned the trip last February ~ which turned out well since the oil spill in the gulf. Virginia Beach has a huge boardwalk and the kids love it! We got there in the late afternoon so we went walking along the boardwalk.
Had to stop for a treat along the way!
This was on the beach. The kids didn't go down then, but they did later in the week!

Here's Annamarye in the rooftop pool:

The view from the rooftop pool:

Then we went to the indoor pool. It is connected to the outdoor rooftop pool. It is really nice ~ we stayed here the last time we were here. The workers work here! And they are young too! They are constantly wiping off the pool area so the kids don't slip. The chairs at the pools and at the beach all have terry cloth covers and they provide towels at the beach and pools!

The bar serves food too and the waitresses come around to the pool areas. We would just order our lunch everyday and eat by the pool. The kids loved it!!

Still more to come...

New Door and Prayers Needed

We have needed to replace some windows and get a new front door for a long time! We finally bit the bullet and did it. Someone asked me if I liked my new windows. There isn't much to like, they look pretty much the same! It is a shame to spend all that money and have it look the same!!

We had all of the outside trim replaced with a non wood material. The wood around our windows was splitting and rotting. We had some entire windows replaced. They do look better, and won't leak now or ruin or rot!

This was our old door:

We haven't done anything to it in years, knowing we would replace it. The sun just ruins it! You can only strip and stain it so many times.

Here's the new door:

Sorry about the crooked picture! I love it!! I didn't want to replace it with the same thing so we got the double doors!! The doors are fiberglass, so they won't rot or warp because of the sun!!

On a different note, please pray for the family that lived here:
Around 5:30 Saturday afternoon this house in our neighborhood caught fire. It was hit by lightning. I don't know them, but they need our prayers! No one was home at the time and a neighbor broke in and got their dogs out safely!

More Williamsburg Pictures

We had dinner one night here: They have normal food, but it is set up like Colonial Times. There is a normal kitchen, but no lights in the dining rooms. Here the waitress is getting the guys ready for dinner.

My father in law and Johnny were good sports. They didn't leave them on for dinner though. She explained that the reason the napkins were worn that way and were so large were because people didn't bath and wash clothes daily like we do.

We took carriage rides around Williamsburg. We had a girl carriage and a boy carriage. Ours was covered and so the pictures didn't turn out well.

Here's the kids in the jail. They thought it was neat!

Back to School!

Yesterday we went to "Meet the Teacher" at both schools. We went to James' school first. I didn't get a picture of him with his teacher. One, I forgot, two I am sure he would have been embarrassed! I will get one though! James is going into the 4th grade so he is at a different school. It was a zoo there yesterday with all of the 4th and 5th graders! His teacher is really nice and was very organized!

I did get a picture of Annamarye and James with Mrs. Price. James had her last year and Annamarye has her this year.

I really can't believe school started today! Where did the summer go?

They were both very excited this morning! Annamarye had a few wardrobe changes before deciding. I would not have chosen this, but it's not about me. We had to curl our hair last night too! She said she feels like Susan with the boing boing curls (you Ramona fans will know what I'm talking about!).

They love their new backpacks! They also have the matching lunch boxes!
We met up with Matthew and Jacob and grabbed a few more pictures.

Chair Pockets

I hate when I think of things and can't believe I didn't think about it sooner! My niece, Lanie, started her first year of teaching today! Yea!! I am so excited for her and proud of her! Now is not the best time to get a job teaching and she was snatched up in May for this job!
I have made her some things for her room (I'll post more later). I made her a set of chair pockets. I used blue jean fabric for her room so they would last longer. The kids wanted some so I let them pick out their fabric. Here is what they chose:

I found some directions for free on the Internet. It was soooo easy! We have had this little table since James was 1 year old. It is really too small for them, or should I say, they are too big for it. But they still use it. Anyway, I can't believe I didn't think to make them chair pockets sooner!!!

Garage Cleaning Day!

Today is garage cleaning day! This is the first Saturday since June 12 that we have been home on a Saturday. It was nice to get up and not have to rush around to be somewhere.
I have said for a very long time that we needed a garage cleaning day! So today is the day!

Here's a few more pictures from our trip to Williamsburg. The kids left with my in laws on that Friday and drove part of the way and spent the night and went the rest of the way on that Saturday. Johnny and I drove it all on that Saturday and met up with them in Williamsburg. We began our tour on Sunday. We all had a blast!

Here's the kids with Betty in front of a house that her Aunt and Uncle lived in years ago. It is actually part of Williamsburg. Betty's uncle was director of something, so he was able to live in Williamsburg.

Gotta go get started on the garage! Johnny ran to the store to get some more shelves. I have to at least look like I am doing something when he gets home!
