Baseball and Baton

James had a baseball game today at noon. They won 15 to 6! The Phillies are currently in 2nd place with 7 wins and 3 losses. That will change I'm sure after all the scores are posted for today's games, but we can enjoy it for now.

Johnny said that James got three great hits! The 4th time up to bat he pounded it to right field. His best hit ever! But it was caught. :( I told James before the game that I would give him $10 if he hit a home run. It was close. Johnny said it would have easily been a triple. Still he had a great game and got a game ball! No more games until next Saturday afternoon.

Annamarye and I missed the game because we were at her baton recital. She just started taking baton in January and did a great job! She was the best one there!! What do you expect a mom to say? Afterwards we went out to lunch with my Dad and sister, Renee to celebrate! Here's the video and some pictures. When you watch the video, scroll down and pause the playlist music.

Phillies win again!!

The Phillies win again! Last night they played the Mets. Phillies won 11 to 4. James played well, getting a hit each time. Once he hit it up and it was caught. The other times he had base hits and scored twice. The last play of the game James was pitcher (coach pitches, but each team has a pitcher). He got the ball and threw it to first base and that was the 3rd out, end of the game.

Today was Hat Day at school. Here's the kids - They dressed themselves today!

James' Project & Annamarye's Tooth

Here's James with his recycle project. He worked and worked on this all week! Just about drove me crazy! He gets things on his mind and wants to do it then. I guess I can't complain too much, he gets it from me.

He spray painted an empty coke bottle yellow. We were going to finish it up the next afternoon. Well, he was up at 6:00 ready to work on it! I am glad he likes to work on and finish things, but not at 6:00 in the morning. Anyway, he made a rocket and then typed up a couple sheets on the computer to go along with it. He was so proud! Everything was his idea! It is hard to see, but there is a cardboard ramp leading to a door on the rocket. He didn't have any space men, so he used some of his army men!
While we were playing outside yesterday afternoon, Annamarye's tooth came out! I think this is number 6 or 7 for her. I was surprised it came out while eating a Popsicle. We put her tooth in her little tooth fairy pillow and put it under my pillow. Yes, my pillow. Annamarye does not like for the tooth fairy to come in her room. She says she feels the tooth fairy under her pillow. Annamarye was excited to find her dollar this morning.

The Phillies are Back!!

The Phillies are back!! Last night the Phillies beat the Angels 18 to 8! James had a great game with 3 great hits! I was a little nervous after the Angels first up to bat. We were home, so we batted last. The Angels scored 6 runs, but we countered with 6 runs too. After that there was no stopping the Phillies. It was fabulous! In fact we only played 4 innings. Not even 4 full innings. The ump called it after we scored and went ahead by 10. I just love baseball season! It is soooo much fun! The kids have a great time as well as the parents. James scored twice (left on base once) and was thrilled to have to slide into home one of those times! I don't even try getting all the dirt out of his pants anymore.

Gotta go spray paint flower pots for Annamarye's class. More later...

Catching Up

Boy last week just flew by!! Last Monday the kids had a weather day and were out of school. So since the weather was nice we ran some errands and then headed to the Trussville Play Station. We had never been and the kids were excited to check it out. We had lots of fun. James and Annamarye skated for a while and then we played a round of putt putt. James also got to ride the go-carts. Annamarye didn't want to ride, but said she would if we go back. They both want to go back and ride the bigger go-carts.

On Saturday my sister, Renee and her two step grandkids, Preston (6) and Hudson (2), my niece, Melissa and her husband, Jorden along with their dog, Lily came to James' baseball game. The Phillies had a rough day. They lost 11 to 1! They just never got it together. After the game we all went to lunch and then back home to play. As you can see below, they had a great time!

Hudson LOVED riding in the gator!!

Preston is somewhere on the trampoline with James and Annamarye!

I'm not sure what James and Preston were playing - part Star Wars - part swords - part guns -

Either way, they had fun!

Wicked

Johnny and I went with a few other couples Sunday night to see Wicked. Wow!! It was FABULOUS!! I am still going on and on about it. I went and bought the CD and also checked the book out at the library. If you have read my profile, you will see that The Wizard of Oz is one of my favorites. It was really interesting to learn the story of life before The Wizard of Oz. If you have the chance to see it, I highly recommend it!!

Easter

Here's some pictures from Easter! We had a really good day. Everyone came to our house after church for lunch. We had a nice afternoon of games and fun!

Here's Annamarye, James and Aunt Nae in the egg race. It was so fun! We also did an egg toss, and an egg roll. Annamarye's egg didn't survive the egg toss. And of course we had an egg hunt. This year we found all the eggs!

Easter Eggs

In between baseball games on Saturday, it was mad cooking and egg dyeing time! I made deviled eggs, corn salad and made a derby pie. Then we had to dye our Easter Eggs. I had boiled the eggs on Friday night so all we had left to do was dye them, which James and Annamarye love! They always enjoy mixing the colors!

Just a little FYI - I made Annamarye's t-shirt dress. I told her it didn't matter if she messed it up since she won't be able to wear it next year. She didn't get a drop of color on her, but I now have a huge blue stain on my white t-shirt!

Friday night we made the Easter cookies - where you read the scriptures from the Bible as you go. Then you leave the cookies in the oven overnight. When you open the cookies, they are empty, like the tomb was on Easter morning. The kids had fun. We make these every year. James got tired of mixing the egg whites though. It was fun for a while, but didn't last long.

It was really nice that Annamarye and James could take turns this year looking up and reading the Bible verses.

Baseball and More Baseball!

James had a baseball game Saturday morning at 8:30. I assumed it would be cool since it was early. But it was freezing!! They played the Giants, who have won 3 or 4 games and tied one. It was a real nail biter! The Phillies won 14 to 9!! It was great! Annamarye fussed at me for cheering too much. James had a great game and got a game ball!

We went back to the park for the 1:45 game! This time I took a blanket. And I am glad I did. It was still very cold and windy. James was a sub for the Braves. His friend Carter is on that team so it was lots of fun. Johnny got to sit in the stands and watch, which was nice. He helps out the team during James' games. The Braves' custom is to give one of the game balls to the sub, so James got another game ball! He was excited and played a great game. He got 3 good hits and scored a run for the Braves. They won.

Honors Day in Tuscaloosa

Today I went to Honors Day at the University of Alabama for my niece Lanie. She is the one in the middle with the cute dress on. Yay Lanie!

Here's my niece Lanie with her roommate Rachel. Lanie and Rachel both are in education and will be doing their student teaching in the fall. They were both recognized today for their high GPAs.

Birthday and Baseball

Annamarye's birthday was on March 18. Since it was during Spring Break we waited to have her party. So we had her party last Friday night. She had a non sleep over spend the night party. The girls came over and you do everything you would at a sleep over except the girls go home and everyone gets some sleep!

Here's Annamarye on her actual birthday waiting for her "breakfast in bed". She loved it and I think it will be a new tradition.
When the girls arrived they each had a pillowcase with a picture of Hannah Montana on it to color. After they colored they went around and everyone signed each other's pillowcase. They played some games and decorated a doorknob holder. Next came pizza and cupcakes!
A few more games and then it was movie time. Here's a few of the girls settled in for the show!

Here's the cake. It is really cupcakes, but Publix makes it look like a cake.

While we were celebrating Annamarye's birthday, Johnny and James were at Heardmont Park for their 10th year anniversary and the kick off to Spring Ball Season!
Here's James with his team parading in around the track.

And here's the team before the official ceremony enjoying a tailgating party!

Warts and More Puppies!

Here's James at the dermatologist on Tuesday. He had a couple of small warts above his ankle and the doctor froze them. James was very very nervous about going. He worried all afternoon and evening on Monday. But he was very brave and sat still while she froze them. We go back in a month and she will check them and may have to freeze them again.

More puppies!! Our friends Matthew and Jacob got two beagle puppies!! Aren't they just precious!

Annamarye just loves holding the puppies!! I asked Johnny what he would do if he came home one day and we had two new puppies. He just laughed. You never know! I have never done anything like that in our 10 years of marriage. Maybe....

Go Phillies!

James had a baseball game Wednesday night and I think my heart is still pounding. At the end of the 2nd inning they were up 5-0! They played fabulous!! Then it was back and forth the rest of the game. James hit great the first time up to bat and did OK after that, striking out once. He was playing outfield and ran up to catch a fly ball. It was perfect - he ran up, held out his glove, as I held my breath! And the ball went straight to his glove! Then it fell out. If the ump had just called "out" quickly it would have been perfect! In the end the Phillies prevailed with an 11-10 win! The kids had a great time and James got one of the game balls!
James in action!

Going to get ready for Annamarye's birthday party tonight! Pictures tomorrow of the big "sleep under!"
